Safety Courses
We offer the BCU Foundation Safety and Rescue, White Water Safety and Rescue and Advanced White Water Safety and Rescue Training Courses. We can provide excellent quality clothing and equipment which allows us to operate throughout the year.
Our aim is to deliver excellence and true value for money.
In addition to theses certified courses we have successfully run a scenarios weekend where the participants worked through dealing with a series of incidents over two days. The skills of the training courses were put to test and the challenges reinforced the need to practice the skills on a regular basis to ensure best practice is applied under stressful conditions.
We have a number of activity venues and natural sites which allow us to provide these courses throughout the paddling season.
| Foundation Safety and Rescue Training (FSRT ) | |||||||||||||||||||||
| This course aims to provide the key safety and rescue skills required to operate safely in a sheltered water environment and to be able to deal with common emergencies. These skills will then form the basis of all safety and rescue training throughout the BCU scheme. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Pre-requisites: | You must be - minimum of 14yrs - NEW 2 star standard - able to swim in normal canoe clothing suitable for the prevailing conditions | ||||||||||||||||||||

| Equipment Hire: | At Aquaplay Scotland, we can offer the following equipment for hire. We require that a hire form is filled in and credit card details are taken for security. We require that you also have a secure way of attaching the equipment to a vehicle.

| White Water Safety and Rescue (WWSR) | |

Aim: |
Provide key safety and rescue skills required to operate safely on moving water and be able to cope with common incidents and emergencies in a more challenging environment. These skills are an extension to the base course and involve risk assessment of operating in fast moving water and difficult underfoot conditions using more advanced skills and techniques. Day 2 looks at paddling on moving water as a group member. We look at communication, risk assessment, group control, river reading and decision-making skills and dealing with scenarios on a journey on grade 2-3 water. A First Aid qualification will supplement these skills. |
| Pre-requisite: | Minimum of 16yrs old, working at or close to the new 3* standard and be comfortable swimming in appropriate paddling clothing suitable for the prevailing conditions. |
